Thank you everyone for coming and making this the biggest snowsports social in history we think.!
Welcome to everything social about Exeter Snowsports!
From one of the largest freshers pub crawls in Exeter to our infamous Snow Ball we promise you the biggest nights in town with the best bunch of students on campus. If you are after something more than the cheapest drinks in Exeter with the biggest promotors around then we will also make it worth your while with tons of stash giveaways from us and our sponsors and sets from acts like Zane Lowe! Last year we even gave away FREE places on our trips to the Alps!
More than a social. This is a snowcial.
See you out there
SOCIALS
If you're a complete beginner, or you're already tearing up the park and shredding everything the mountain can throw at you then snowboarding with Exeter snowsports is where you want to be this year. There will be tonnes of chances for beginner lessons throughout the year and we will be entering both freestyle and race teams into competitions all year long that will need new members, so even if you don't think you're good enough to compete yet give it a go because we've all started somewhere. I see snowboarding as a chance to have a good time doing a sport you love with people who love it just like you do so be prepared for some sick times all year.
Snowboarders assemble!
We need to show the skiers who really owns the mountain.
Boarding
Intro...
Were open to all standards of skiers, from complete beginners to national champions to come and improve their skills. If you fancy changing that snow plough into some sweet carving turns or fancy getting straight into ripping it up through the slalom poles under the watchful eye of excellent instructors then this is the place for you! There will also be beginner lessons throughout the year to get those of you who have never skied before up on your feet and flying down the hill before you know it!! We need as many members as possible down at the Exeter dry slope to emulate and hopefully improve on the league winning team of last year! So if you think this shindig is for you feel free to pop down!!
LESSONS
Beginner lessons will take place at Exeter dry slope at the same time as training. They are open to any snowsports members looking to get themselves on their feet to experience the magnificence of skiing!!! however, if you don't think dry slope is quite your cup of tea, the club run SNO!Fresh , a trip to Milton Keynes snowdome a few weeks into first term, where you have the chance to participate in lessons on artificial snow which I can assure you is a lot softer than dry slope when you hit the deck!! Details of the SNO!Fresh trip will follow in due course!! The club has the ambition to cater for as many beginners as possible so everyone is more than welcome to come along and give it a crack!
Lesson Times: _Exeter Dry Slope.
-Wednesdays 7:00pm - 9:00pm.
-Sundays: 4:30pm - 6:30pm.

Comps
After last year's first team won the South West Kings league, and the first team and girls team made the national finals, the club is looking to build on this outstanding achievement by progressing further than we have ever done before!! The club competes in 5 regional and up to 4 national competitions each year with the main event for the team (and a massive event which the whole society gets involved in) being BUDS (British University Dry Slope championships). Quite possibly the most ridiculously brilliant weekend ever, it involves a fantastic road trip up to Edinburgh, two days of racing and two nights of outrageously good partying ! With well over a 1000 students in attendants, this is one weekend that most definitely should not be missed!! Aside from BUDS, the other racing events are also excellent social occasions! This year we plan to get supporter buses coming to each event, cheering us on as we rip up the course then joining us in extravagant celebrations after the event!! For each event we will have at least two combined teams, hopefully three, as well as the board team. This means there are plenty of positions up for grabs so fear not if you have raced before, I was a relative novice last year and look where I've ended up now!!
Training Times: _Exeter Dry Slope.

INTRO
Fancy yourself being the next Tanner Hall? Exeter Snowsports Freestyle is the place for you! Whether youre a total beginner wanting to hit a kicker for the first time, or trying to perfect those crazy inverts, we will be at the top cheering you on (probably pole-wacking too).
Snow Parks can be a daunting place which can make it difficult to progress at freestyle. Thats why we are here to help anybody (beginners, pros, skiers and boarders) to practice within a friendly environment of folk in similar situations. In the past year weve had total beginners learning to stomp 360s, and even some of more experienced guys trying crazy new inverts.
Even if your not the most committed snowrider, our freestyle team is here for those who just like to chat about the latest Ski and Board movies over the odd pint in the Ram bar on campus too (usually followed by trying misty flips off the benches in the beer garden).
Remember, if you dont try Freestyle this year, youll be one year older when you do!..
Practise Seshs
We will be running regular trips to Dorset Snowsports Centre (a dry slope equipped with a variety of sized kickers, boxes and rails) HAVE A LOOK, Newton Abbot Somersaults (a room filled with padding, trampolines and foam pits perfect for practicing those tricks in safety) and the occasional trip to freestyle nights at the nearest indoor snow-domes. We are also scoping out a few new potential freestyle haunts in the South-West so watch this space
We will be running our first trip to Warmwell in Dorset in the first few weeks of term, so keep an eye out for any information on here, or chat to one of our Committee members at one of our first events.
Competitions
With Freestyle still being an up and coming discipline in the UK, loads of experience isn’t necessary to be entering the several competitions we attend every year, which are usually great fun and perfect for pushing yourself and progressing further. If your already nailing a couple of spins and the occasional cheeky backflip then you’ve got a good chance of getting podium at these events- the year just passed we saw a member get silver in slopestyle and bronze in big-air at BUDS, the largest uni comp in the country as well as a few guys into the final at the BUISC competition in Milton Keynes.
Competitions we will be hitting next year will be BUDS , Warmwell Winter Jam, BUISC and the possibility of the BUSC Main Event. We have also got plans to stage mini-comps between ourselves just to get used competition formats (with bonus sponsor prizes) and the possibility of a South-West inter-uni comp.
Come along to a few of the practice sessions and we can almost guarantee you will be representing Exeter in the next Freestyle competition going
